An absolute must have!February 5, 2005 Marcelina Lundy(Tiverton, RI USA) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
If you are a fan of Desi and Lucy, this book is an absolute must have. From pictures of both of them as babies to the death notices that were cut out of the paper, the entire book will have you completely captivated. This book made me laugh, made me cry and had me thanking my lucky stars that these two wonderful people were able to do what they did. They left a legacy to all of us that will continue to touch peoples lives and hearts forever. Saying thank you will never be enough. Still, I would like to thank their family for making this book possible. They were very thoughtful and kind to make the material in the book open to the public. Lucy and Desi, and (Lucie and Desi jr) thank you so very much for deeply touching my heart, bringing laughter and tears to my life, and for making this wonderful book.
MUST have for EVERY Lucy fan!October 26, 2004 Ron Middlekauff(Sacramento, CA United States) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I feel I have read every "Lucy" book written. However, when you hold in your own hands, the "scrapbook" memories that Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz shared, you feel closer to what magic they created and shared.
This book is full of letters and mementos you can actually remove from the book and hold them and read them, just the way Lucy & Desi did. These are their very own birth announcements, photographs, articles, passports, greeting cards and letters that moved them enough to hold onto them and not discard them like the rest of us do.
With actual memories of items written by Lucy & Desi about the various items, you are not getting a third person account of their lives. Read it, touch it, feel it. There were parts I was moved to tears to read about. I cannot think of another book that has EVER moved me that way.
A must have book if you say "I Love Lucy". Sure we all did, but this book will show you like no other the human side of a fine, fine couple. Many thanks to Lucie & Desi Jr. for sharing these private mementos of their parents lives with the public.
A Must for any Lucy fan!October 15, 2004 L. G. Saigeon(TN) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This book is filled with pictures and memories of Lucy and Desi's life together. From the opening pages filled with pictures of their childhood to pictures of them on the movie set. You have to look carefully because on some pages there are slits with reproductions of marriage certificate, cablegrams, letters, handbills, etc. These items really make you feel as if you're getting a private glimpse into their life. It's like holding a piece of Hollywood history in your hands. This book is well made, pages are sturdy. The book slides out of a cardboard cover which helps protect the book. I would love to thank Lucy and Desi's family and Elisabeth Edwards for bringing this book to the public. A wonderful book for Lucy and Desi fans!

I'm one of millions of fans of Lucille Ball and her handsome husband Desi. The love between Lucy and Desi (despite their difficulties/different backgrounds and expectations) was romantic, palpable, just so real, that it lit up their tv show and the movies they made together.
Here is a scrapbook containing many little personal items and minutia from their days together, so that both Lucy and Desi return to life before our eyes. Browsing through it is a joy.

I picked up this book on a whim. In all honesty, I was "blown away" by it. Whoever put this thing together did a wonderful and pain-staking job duplicating items glued and tucked within the pages of the original scrapbooks. Passports, holy cards, letters from presidents and celebrities and much more is reproduced to look like the originals. I found myself getting lost in the lives of these people and the decades in which they lived. Mostly, I closed the book with the realization that even icons like Lucy and Desi are flesh and blood people, drawn to their heritage, celebrating their children and accomplishments, and mourning the loss of dreams and friends along the way. Each yellowed news clipping and lovingly preserved souvenir is a reminder of the ties that bind us all.
