This is a special bookOctober 2, 2008 A friend loaned me this book when I went to take care of my 87 year old mother who was ailing. I read one of the stories each night before I went to bed. An easy read, the compassion of Dr. Lerma is an inspiration. The repetitiveness of what happens just before death in the stories was a comfort. Mom and I had talked about seeing loved ones after death, and she said she had not decided if that was true or not. I read her a paragraph from this book, telling how it was true from Dr. Lerma's experience. Anyone connected with Hospice would enjoy this book.
Into the LightSeptember 29, 2008 I think every person should read this book ! It will show what is needed in our world today.
Into the Light - FantasticSeptember 8, 2008 This is one of the best books I've ever read concerning the near death experience. This book is extremely well written by a hospice doctor, Dr. John Lerma. Once you start to read this book you cannot put it down and I love the fact that Dr. Lerma answers many, many questions that people ask quite frequently. This book has been a great help to my husband who is a hospice volunteer and I've also ordered extra copies for our friends who ask about the near death experience. I admire Dr. Lerma in his quest to help people.
Into The Light by John Lerma, MDSeptember 8, 2008 I found this book to be very comforting. I lost a son recently and Mr. Lerma's experiences with his patients and their families reaffirmed what I believe most of the time and hope for all of the time. That this is not all there is and that God lovingly watches over all of us (and our kids) no matter what. Thank you for your book.
If This Book Doesn't Convince You, I Don't Imagine Anything Ever Will.August 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've read dozens and dozens of books in my lifetime dealing with NDE and spiritual material and NOTHING has ever touched me to the depth that this book has. I've read books that have made me think...that have had me straddling the fence...that have had me "almost" convinced...and books that have left me rolling my eyes at the utter absurdity and obvious deceptive intentions for nothing more than fame and fortune. Dr. Lerma doesn't attempt to "convert you". He simply presents his patient journals for you to observe and decide for yourself. There is no talking in circles. No reconstructing or recycling of various books past and present. It had me choking back tears throughout but not with misery. Rather with hope and an instinctive spirtual understanding. I almost didn't feel like I was reading a book. Instead I felt as if I were "connected" to the patients and their families, as well as Dr. Lerma. I literally felt the energy crackle through my own soul as I read the haunting yet beautiful patient stories of inspiration and spirtual hope shared by Dr. Lerma. Hospice medical professionals are an angelic force all their own. There are few professions that equal it. Few that are more heartbreaking, but spirtually rewarding all the same. Though I've not yet dealt up close and personal with the passing of a loved one to form my own "opinion", I have experienced questionable and mysterious events in my life that convince me there is much more to this world than our mortal eyes can see. Following a health scare in late 2007 that I deem my own personal NDE because unseen yet closely "felt" spirtual beings helped guide me into turning my life around while there was still time, I felt "reborn". Some might find it "preachy", but a closed mind and a "fixed scientific approach" to looking at the world is one of man's greatest detriments. Read it with an open mind. And should you still find yourself skeptical or worse yet, smugly dismissive, then all I can say is you will find your own moment of truth eventually. If ever I find myself or my loved ones in the same position as Dr. Lerma's patients, I pray for someone as equally compassionate and loving to help "carry us through. You are a flesh and blood angel Dr. Lerma and I give thanks that I was led to discover your book.
