Plum Summer FunJune 19, 2008 10 out of 19 found this review helpful
Don't let the summer pass you by without this latest laugh-a-minute installment of the Stephanie Plum series. We've never seen Stephanie this confident, independent and spunky. Lula's delves into her latest adventure with her trademark enthusiasm. Ranger's got his hand full with a sexy night job. Morelli's opened Aunt Rose's doors to Stephanie and a host of zany characters. Grandma's feeling lucky with men in their underwear in her sights and Mooner steals the show. Shazam!
Fooled Again, shame on meJune 18, 2008 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
I was a fan of Janet Evanovich, have read all books in the series. I was disappointed with book 13 and swore I would never buy another Plum book. Fooled me once.
Fooled me twice, shame on me. I purchased Fearless 14 and skimmed it. It is horrible. Weak plot with slapstick comedy. This is the worst book I've read in a long time. Don't waste your money buying this book.
Stephanie Plum is suppose to be a bounty hunter but she seems to have forgotten. I simply don't care any more about all her stupid friends and relatives. I don't care if she chooses Joe or Ranger or neither.
There is a fine line between funny and stupid. The last two Evanovich books are stupid. I'm done with this series.
On an upbeat note Sue Grafton has improved and I found her last book delightful.
dissapointed.... just blah.June 18, 2008 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
I anxiously waited for this book- had it pre-ordered WAY in advance. There were some funny moments, but over all it was kindof boring. One big thing was the absence of Ranger, he's in there some- but still absent. There was really no holding your breath waiting on what was going to happen next moments, and if not for the Tank/Lula story line this book would have been a total loss. This book was missing the usual tension, excitement, flare, almost like the Author and the Characters were both tired. I really hope that she doesn't end the series with more books like this one.
Another Swing and a Miss for JanetJune 18, 2008 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
What's happened to our girl Janet? Fearless Fourteen is another disappointment following on the heels of 13 which was also a huge disappointment. I think she's lost her edge.
In the early books the crime was dirty and gritty and the humorous scenes provided great comic relief from the tension and stress Stephanie (and the reader) were under. Reading those books was a roller coaster of emotions that you couldn't help but get hooked in to.
Stephanie used to fear Ranger (fear of the unknown). Her attraction to him accompanied by her curiosity about him provided high excitement in combination with that fear. Now she's friends with him and the edge is gone. Unfortunately, so is the thrill.
Morelli and Stephanie's interactions used to sizzle because he was such a hottie, the forbidden fruit her mother had warned her about. Now he's a regular fixture at the Plum dinner table and instead of sparks flying when they flirt they casually discuss who's house they'll meet at for the next bedroom session. No more sizzle.
Fearless Fourteen continues the downward slide started in 13. Unfortunately, there's no going back. Now that Ranger is a friend he can't be mysterious to Steph anymore. And now that Steph and Morelli are comfortable, the thrill is gone between them. The crime/mystery part of Fearless Fourteen has become just a thread to carry the reader from one scene of slapstick comedy to the next. The humor doesn't provide comic relief because you have to have tension to need relief.
Fearless Fourteen was another disappointment.
Fearless FourteenJune 18, 2008 7 out of 15 found this review helpful
Fearless Fourteen is another excellent book by Janet Evanovich. Her characters continue to be funny and easy to relate with. Ms. Evanovich continues to write books that you can read just for enjoyment. No heavy message, no needless blood and guts, no gratuitous sex, just plain old fun. Another excellent book in the series where Stephanie is once again plunged into a plot of danger and mystery, while dealing with new people in her life. I highly recommend this book to those who have read the series or those who are just staring to read the series. A very enjoyable story.
