The power of magic compels youSeptember 23, 2005 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is a very good book on becoming a Wizard. It takes you through various steps and rituals on your journey. It has many explainations that will not confuse or bore you. The images are well done. I highly recommend this book.
What a Gem!!!!September 22, 2005 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
To start off with how I wish I had had such a book 40 years ago! Noted Magickal author Raymond Buckland said the same thing. (and although you may not have heard of me, surely you have heard of him.)I have read a few reviews that say it is a bit simplistic. One must understand that A) it was written for a young audience and B) making a subject a light and enjoyable read while giving the reader the information they need, is no mean feat. Do you need other information to round things out...sure you do as it so plainly states. It is much like, to quote the author, the Boy Scouts Handbook. It is a starting point, a good reference and much more. And be honest don't you get more out of something that is written to both inform and entertain as you do from reading technical bulletins? Enjoy the read.
THE BEST BASIC BOOK ON REAL OCCULTISM whatever your ageSeptember 13, 2005 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
I dont care if you are 6 or 60, this book has alot of insight and ideas on occultism, magick and the like. I am a big patron and supporter of these arts, but very critical and stand offish with most others who are as well. But Mr. Zell-Ravenheart has created a real gem for those looking to learn about real occultism in "text book" form. I believe most of his ideas are sound, well detailed and "safe" to use as an educational tool. I wouldnt recommend sole dependencey on this one item, nor do I believe he would. I also dont believe in every printed word and that is the way it should be. But I hear alot of cinical rabble from others about the religious aspects and his "good vs evil" emphasis. I like the way it was written, It is enjoyable, well illistrated and educational FOR ALL. So back off, its an intro - not a bible.
The whole time I was reading it, I couldn't help but think about wanting to be a part of this and actually wanting to meet the people behind this book. If I was ever going to have children, this book would have been on their shelves.
Excellent!July 30, 2005 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
Although this book does have several Harry Potter references I have found this book very useful. I am using the book to teach my 11 year old, he of course loves the Harry Potter feel. This book is wonderful not only for parents to use as a guidline but it reads well for a child wanting to learn on his/her own.
