Great display of God's LoveDecember 9, 2008 I appreciate John Eldredge's books, and continue to garner as much wisdom from them as I can. I especially like The Sacred Romance because it displays an interpretation of God's love that is so deep and intimate, you can't help but view God differently after reading this book. I would consider this book the foundation for all of Eldredge's books; so if you were to read any of his books, read this one first. It's the foundation that we all need, loving God first. We need to accept the Sacred Romance and dive into it.
God bless.
Alright....?December 6, 2008 It was a good book. Kinda. I got lost in the words and how many different directions the author was going in. I really did find some great truths in this book that encouraged me, but its not what other reviewers lead me to believe. I do recommend it, to an extent.
Help for those who hurt.October 11, 2008 Are you feeling further and further out of touch with God? Is pain your shadow these days? For some solid help, I highly recommend The Sacred Romance: Drawing Closer to the Heart of God. It will be especially helpful to one suffering the heartache of his/her life unravelling or feeling like such. Also it will benefit one trying to help another in such a condition. For additional help, follow the authors' lead on reading other books quoted or recommended in their book.
A Tough Book to FinishOctober 4, 2008 I read a lot of books. I usually enjoy most of them. I loved "Wild at Heart". "The Way of the Wild at Heart" was good, but not as good. "Walking with God" was decent. But The Sacred Romance bored me out of my mind. I couldn't wait to finish it.
A Christian perspective for a new generationSeptember 1, 2008 I read the Sacred Romance when I was in high school and it completely changed my walk with Christ. I grew up in church, and was very concerned with looking like a Christian, but I was missing out on what really matters. This book is a must read for people who have become disillusioned with religion. The Sacred Romance helped me to understand that I can have a meaningful relationship with God without succumbing to the typical religious stereotype, and by having a less typical, more radical relationship with God, I can come closer to having the true relationship that God desires from me.
