Great foundational review for sacrament of reconciliationOctober 4, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found this book a wonderful treatment of the sacrament of reconciliation. It is very readable as are most of Scott Hahn's works. The scriptural references were helpful as I prepared a lesson plan for our adult faith formation group. The end of the book is useful for preparing oneself to celebrate this sacrament.
It really is good for the soulJuly 2, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Coming from a very militant reformed Protestant background, few teachings of the Roman Catholic church raised my distrust like the teaching on the sacrament of confession/penance. But Dr. Hahn once again smashes through the walls of distrust to reveal the true value of confession in the Christian life. Far from being something to be feared, it is instead nourishment and ointment to the hurting soul. Follow this up with Father Larry Richards' message, "Confession" (available through the Mary Foundation), and you will overcome that fear that keeps you from this blessed sacrament. It is not slavery, it is freedom and good for the soul indeed. And Dr. Hahn can help you foster that healthy understanding of the sacraments like few other teachers.
Scott Hahn at his best!April 11, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Scott Hahn takes you through the ABC's of the confessional from the history of this ancient sacrament to an examination of conscience. This is must have for any serious Catholic library
Wonderful Scott Hahn book!March 28, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
As always, Dr. Hahn does a wonderful job of tying in the sacraments with scripture and church tradition...I have read about six of his books so far, and this, to me, is one of the best! A great "refresher" about the importance and meaning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation!

As a facilitator in the RCIA process, I gave this book to the two (2) candidates in hopes it would bring them to a love and frequency of this Sacrament. In addition the appendixes contain the process for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and an examination of conscience. This is the best book that I have read with regards to tracing forgiveness and accepting responsibility for our actions.
