As with the other writings of Deng, this book is a perfect compliment for a life of daily meditation and contemplation. In it, he manages to teach the subtler points of perceiving Tao by "showing" , rather than "telling" the reader, and then subsequently talking the subject to death, with no transmition of knowledge. Even my non-Taoist brother has found words of guidance and wisdom in these pages. I recommend it highly for all people, regardless of your religious or philosophical preferences.
An excellent work of Taoist wisdom!November 4, 1997 This is quite possibly one of the best books I've read; it provides a daily connection with the way of things through poems and connected thoughts. A truly excellent work of art and of practicality.
Excellent day to day thoughts for practical livingJuly 1, 1997 This book is one of the best I have found for giving encouragement for day to day living..I now am on my third copy..have loaned two out and not got them back!!! Wouldn't be without it!!
