Would you really want to live in a world with just you and Patrick Geryl? June 20, 2007 19 out of 32 found this review helpful
Well, the world is coming to an end in 2012, just before Christmas (the upside of this is that you won't have to pay your credit card bills)and you had better have your unsinkable boat ready. Every volcano in the world is going to let loose, all continents will shift, huge tsunamis will wipe out everything and everyone, the world will be in 25 years of darkness--yet Patrick Geryl wants to survive this. Oh, by the way, he is more concerned about nuclear power plants melting down during the cataclysm than about anything else happening--go figure. This whole work can be summed up as "drivel." He is clearly a disturbed man who has never taken a class in statistical analysis, science, or WRITING! If this were a satire, one could chuckle at the hysteria--but there isn't a jot of humor here. Imagine, though, if the world does end and the only work that survives is this one! The next civilization will thank their lucky stars that ours was wiped out! And Patrick, if you read this, stop with the damned exclamation points!!!
Interesting correlation to previouse writtings June 10, 2007 2 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have not read this book, as yet, but his theory reminds me of a book published in 1976 called the HAB Theory, by Allan W Eckert. Same premise and story line. HAB Theory is written as fiction but with a lot of underlining scientific proof's. Worth the read.......
Warning: Patrick Geryl holds nothing back in describing the coming cataclysm in 2012! May 18, 2007 41 out of 47 found this review helpful
Patrick Geryl is brutally honest in describing this Cataclysm in our near future. Just to give you a small sample found in the foreword:
"I clearly explained that life after a polar reversal is nothing but horror, pure unimaginable horror. All securities you presently have at hand such as food transportation and medicine will disappear in one big blow, as will our entire civilization, dissolved into nothingness. It cannot be more horrifying than this; worse than the worst nightmare. More destructive than a nuclear war in which the entire global arsenal of nuclear weapons has been deployed. Are you grasping the facts? The earth will be subject to total destruction. It will be many times worse than my description. You will know terrible hunger, cold, and pain without the hope of a quick recovery; all knowledge and resources will have been completely destroyed. This will be the reality of your daily life after the forthcoming polar reversal. This is the scenario you will have to fight your way through in order to survive."
The author of this book states that a pole reversal/slip occurs every 11,500-12,000 years, caused by our sun's solar cycles that occur in this period of time. Geryl goes on to state that if you want to survive you need at least 12-18 thousand dollars minimum to purchase necessary items to survive and you need to pick the right location in the world which does not include North and South America. I gave this book 5 stars because I agree with almost everything Patrick Geryl says in this book except the following points. Geryl states on page 96-97 that after the pole shift of 2012, the United States and Canada will be located under the Artic circle (the new South Pole) and North America will be under glaciers just like the last ice age. I don't agree with his logic on this. Another item I disagree with is, what our future population should be limited to because more people, means more pollution. Geryl states that no more than 100 million people should occupy the earth which is an extreme position in my opinion. Even the N.W.O. people say 500 million people are optimal. The world can sustain 1 or 2 billion people easily and should be limited to this. Geryl also states that just before the next polar flip the population of earth should be culled to a mere 100,000 people. That is just absurd; almost as crazy as his suggestion that venereal disease can be cured by fasting for 16 days (page 107). Geryl is a vegetarian that believes in a fruit and vegetable diet and wants to ban many industries in the coming new world which include slaughterhouses, tobacco companies, candy companies, chemical companies (pesticides and herbicides), food companies that process food, and limit the size of cities (avoiding tall buildings) in the pursuit of a much happier society. On page 128, Geryl says:
"A strong central authority will have to issue strict laws for starting companies and the use of raw materials. This is the only way to prevent ecological catastrophes. Furthermore, we need to make sure that people can earn money, but cannot become rich."
If I survive this pole shift/reversal, I do not want Geryl in charge of the new world, that's for sure. I value freedom and Geryl, being from Belgium, has a different perspective on what freedom is. And finally, contrary to Geryl, I believe that most governments know of this coming catastrophe and have been preparing for it for years. The USA, China, and Russia have massive underground cities all over the world. I think that most of the underground cities will perish in the coming polar shift, but some will survive. Two years before 2012 Geryl states he will publish this book for free on the web which proves he is sincere and really believes the end of the world is at hand.
"What would you do if you had five more years to live?" March 24, 2007 29 out of 31 found this review helpful
This is the question that comes to mind when considering the thesis of Patrick Geryl's book, How to Survive 2012? Based on his research and the deciphering of mathematical codes left by ancient scholars, a cataclysmic event will soon overwhelm the planet. This is the third in a series of his books about the devastating destruction that the author has discovered is coming in 2012---a planetary geophysical pole reversal.
The first part of the book discusses his voluminous research from several different disciplines including mathematics, ancient texts, archaeology, geology, cartography, mythology, astronomy, and physics that led him to conclude that a pole reversal will happen in 2012. Such a shift of the earth's crust would result in the destruction of civilization and the deaths of most of the world's population. The author can get quite graphic in his description of what would happen during and following a pole reversal. However, I find that there is a wisdom and compassion in his style of writing. It is to prepare the mind like an inoculation so that when actual conditions present themselves, one can act.
Patrick's writer's voice is clear, logical, enthusiastic, and strident. He believes that the devastation of 2012 is going to happen. It has happened thousands of times in the history of the earth, he contends, in clock-like fashion. The compelling aspect about Patrick to me is that he presents himself as a sincere person, a diligent, self-made scholar who has put together the pieces of the puzzle into a huge mosaic until the picture becomes clear and the arrows point to one central message. If you ever wondered why the Egyptians and Mayans labored for generations to build pyramids, wouldn't warning future generations of a planetary cataclysmic event be such a reason? It so happens that our technology just now in this generation has reached a point to be able to decipher the symbols and messages contained there.
If pole reversal is coming in 2012 how can it be that our top scientists are not warning us about it, and how is it that they don't know about it? Patrick claims that he has cracked the code mathematically and it is evident in the book that he has been thinking about this voluminous topic deeply for many years. Many breakthrough discoveries have come from independent persons who thought about things from different angles in totally new ways. What distinguishes his book in an area of rapidly mounting interest is the quality of his analyses and the manner in which he came upon his discovery. He claims that he has deciphered the messages of warning left for us by our ancestors in the pyramids, in the Mayan calendar, Dendera Zodiac, the Nazca lines, and the ancient myths and legends. The great controversy lies not in if he is wrong, but if he is right. If he is right, then he could be warning us of the inevitability of the most tumultuous event in the history of humanity. While the implications of what he is presenting would call upon us to totally change our way of life, this warning might allow for humanity to prepare and for some of us to survive to carry forth our wisdom and knowledge for future generations. If the poles shifted do you know how your area would be affected? Find out how to prepare and where the safe zones will be.
