You have to love sylvia brownDecember 18, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book left me wanting more. I believed Sylvia used these specific societies because they are closely related to Gnostic beliefs. I hope she has a follow-up book on some other societies. I found myself wanting her to write more with regard to Francine's view-point on some of these societies as that part of the book was extremely limited. I do continue to enjoy Sylvia's books and always look forward to her next one. For those with Gnostic beliefs or an open mind these books are priceless.
I Threw It Away!!December 14, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like a lot of the previous reviewers I do admire Sylvia Browne having read some of here previous works. I also am a firm believer in the hidden powers of the human mind and the world around it. This book for me has one message "Stick To What You Know!!" The reason I threw it away came in the chapter on Opus Dei, Sylvia states "don't believe all you hear or read" after a paragraph where she describes her own experience with character assassination on the web etc. However in the previous chapter on The Priory of Sion, she states that "there's never smoke without fire!!" It made me angry and compounded the feeling I had been getting that Sylvia was suiting herself and giving her own opinions on Secret Societies rather than any new facts! - Poorly researched, poorly written.....
RidiculousDecember 11, 2007 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
Anyone with a shred of common sense will agree that Sylvia Browne is very misleading and has no respect for history or scholarship. Please do not think this book is worthwile, nor should you accept it as historical truth. Look at some scholars who actually care about being real, who actually want people to know the truth. Don't listen to a crack who just wants to make money!
kind of paranoidDecember 11, 2007 4 out of 11 found this review helpful
I thought this book was poorly written and also it has a paranoid flavor to it. The problem with Sylvia is she has made many many predictions of what would happen and in some cases of what has already happened and they have turned out to be false.
I have read many many of her books. I think she is sincere in what she says, because she says she gets her information from a spirit named Francine. However either Francine either doesn't know what is really going on, or she is a deceiving spirit. In other words, I along with many other people think Sylvia's "spirit, Francine" is a evil spirit or demon.
Read the story about the missing child Shawn Hornbeck that she said was dead and he turned up alive in 2007. How do you think the parents of Shawn felt when she told them he was dead? Sylvia charges $700.00 a session and has said that when she is home sometimes she does 20 sessions a day. She is raking in millions a year from gullible people with worthless predictions for them.
As far as the information she has written in this book, some of it has already been printed in other places.
This one was good... but I guess one expects so much more.December 4, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have read most of Sylvia Browne's books and was excited about this one too. Unfortunately it lacked the "thrill element" of her previous works. I found that a simple fiction novel such as Angels & Demons told me much more about the Illuminati and The Rozabal Line told me much more about Skull & Bones. I think she is one of the best authors and I have just recently read The Two Marys: The Hidden History of the Mother and Wife of Jesus which is an incredible book. This one was good... but I guess one expects so much more.
