Misleading Title & Poorly Written June 27, 2006 10 out of 18 found this review helpful
I did not particularly care for this book for three reasons. First, most of the locations listed certainly do not fall into the "World's Most Haunted Places" category. Second, the locations are well-known to those with an interest in true ghost stories--in other words, nothing new. And third, the author makes numerous grammatical errors and his writing style/ability is about that of a high school student. Mr. Belanger just doesn't have what it takes to tell a good ghost story.

Although I enjoyed this book, alot of it was like other haunted listing books. Too repetitive. Good addition to your paranormal library.
Enjoyed it! June 2, 2006 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of chilling stories. I highly recommend it to those who love ghost stories. I only hope the author puts another volumn out.
Useful Overviews, Legend, and Lore January 15, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful little compendium of hauntings; perfect for the paranormal explorer's use in planning travel. Author Jeff Belanger has assembled data on the twenty-nine locations he deems the most haunted in the world, and presents his research in a highly readable, enjoyable manner.
More a travel guide than an investigative journal, each essay contains useful historical lore, legend, photos, and contact information for a site. Each venue is in the Western- essentially- Anglo world, and therefore easily traveled to and explored by the American reader. Descriptions of the Paris catacombs, the Tower of London, the White House, and The Pirate's House in Savannah Georgia are particularly insightful.
I have visited and investigated one of the venues, the Whaley House, several times, and can vouch for the accuracy of Belanger's description. Information is appropriately minimal; just enough to point the investigator in the proper direction, but not prejudice her thought or experience. This is a fine `overview' book, and would make a good addition to a ghosthunter's library.
