3 out of 5 stars Big Ghost Hunters Fan Disappointed....   September 24, 2008
I have been watching Ghost Hunters religiously for 2 years. I have seen many of the episodes that have aired. I was so excited about the book but had previously read some reviews that hinted the book was based on scenes from the shows. Based on that information, I waited until I could get the book from the local library. I brought the book home and showed my husband. I couldn't wait to dig into the book to get some behind the scenes stories. The first few chapters of the book were new to me and interesting. I was extremely disappointed to find a few chapters in were practically verbatim from the TV show. Almost to the point where I was going to skip over them - but decided to read in case there was some additional information added - little bits here and there but not on every case. All and all, I remain a diehard fan but hope any future books will include information that hasn't been aired on their television show. I'm glad I didn't spend the $14 on the book and read it for free!

4 out of 5 stars A great companion book to any fan of the show!   September 15, 2008
"If you set out to prove a haunting, anything will seem like evidence. If you set out to disprove it, you will end up with only those things you can't explain away." That quote by Grant Wilson, co-founder alongside Jason Hawes of T.A.P.S. (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), pretty much sums up what these guys do. They may be plumbers for Roto Rooter by day but they are ghost hunters by night, approaching every possible case with scientific methods and equipment looking for all logical explanations before jumping the gun to claim a place as haunted; and they get just as much satisfaction debunking cases as they do actually finding evidence.

GHOST HUNTING: True Stories Of Unexplained Phenomena From The Atlantic Paranormal Society features a quick and easy read of early-on cases Jay and Grant took on as well as some more familiar ones as seen on their hit reality series, GHOST HUNTERS. There's also a brief history as to how TAPS (formerly known as RIPS) came to be, along with some color photos of spectral images caught on camera.

5 out of 5 stars A must have for any fan of the show...   August 21, 2008
If you're a fan of the show Ghost Hunters or just into the paranormal, you'll love this book. These guys take a totally practical and trustworthy stance on hauntings and the paranormal- trying to disprove it all... and catching some crazy awesome evidence and experiences in the mean time. I found reading the backstory of how TAPS came to be founded super interesting and brought up a lot of things that the guys never talk about on the show.

I can't wait for more from Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson.

3 out of 5 stars More Episode Recap Then Behind The Scenes   August 18, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Imagine if you were to recap the best episodes of Ghost Hunters first two seasons. That is what half of what reading Ghost Hunting is like, reading everything you have already seen on TV. The first half of the book talks about the start of TAPS, how Jason was introduced to the world of the paranormal, and cases he and Grant investigated before the show started. And those cases are far more hair raising than anything you will see on Sci-Fi, including TAPS encountering an Incubus, possession, and summoned entities. After these stories, we are given retreads of what we have seen on TV. The information in these encounters offer little insight, and sometimes feel like they were being written by someone watching the show, and not an active participant. Want to know how being part of a TV show has impacted their investigations, some of the cases that happen between episodes that are televised, or some greater insight into what you have seen on TV? Unfortunately you won't find those answers in this book. The first half of the book is incredible and sometimes frightening. As for the second half, I have already seen these stories on TV.

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!   August 17, 2008
This book was a quick read but a fun one. Some of the stories were familiar from seeing them on tv but it was neat to kind of go "behind the scenes" so to say. I would definetly recommend this book.
