Current FaveAugust 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has become my current favorite self-development/motivational book. I've purchased so many books of this type, but always ended up feeling like something was still missing, or I didn't quite get, and end up buying other books in the hopes one of the them would unlock whatever it was I was trying to resolve. I've read it twice in the last 3 weeks, scribbling notes all over it, and I think somewhere inside is the key to that 'thing' I've been searching for. Not sure what exactly what that thing is, but situations that would've been stressful for me [recently] have completely vanished, I realized in hindsight.
As far as personal developement goes I've made tremendous gains, and the urge to keep looking for the next book has vanished and I plan on reading it again in the near future.
I think it's all in the framing. Finley has a way of writing that combines good NLP with the lyricalness of, say, John O'Donohue.
One of the best!August 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Over the years, Guy Finley's output has been truly prolific. Books, cds, videos that interpret timeless spiritual wisdom in a modern way. This book borrows a little from his most inpiring moments. I found it truly inpirational from start to finish, pointing to the true nature of self from many different angles. Guy has a very unique style of sharing the wisdom, often employing little parables, humour and poetic writing. In his audio material, there is the added dimension of his very emotive voice.
To select just one example of what touched me in this book, his unfolding of the biblical verse 'be still and know that I am God' (Psalms 46:10) was a wonderful revelation. He points to the reality that 'who we are' is the underlying stillness beneath our thoughts and emotions. 'Be still and be free.'
Change Your Life!July 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Easy reading and shows you how to change your life by making choices. This reminds me of The Secret and one of my favorite books to change your life to the life you desire, Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook. If you do not know or understand the Law of Attraction this is the book to read.
FEARLESS LIVINGJuly 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Guy Finley's book was exceptional. For me it came along at the right time. The book offers valuable insights that are like tiny treasures. I read the book through and now I pick it up and read 1 page or a few pages at a time to digest it. This is a book that when digested in small amounts fills you up. If you are one who has fears in your life "The Essential Laws of Fearless Living will help you navigate through the waters of your fears to a safe harbor and out again into the seas. Follow the laws and they will assist you greatly in finding your true self.
Sadly DisappointedJuly 16, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
"The Essential Laws of Fearless Living: Find the Power to Never Feel Powerless Again" offers a lot of old stuff that has been used before by this author and re-presented in this book. It turns no new turf and gives the impression he is resting in his past record. It lacks substance and guts. He can deliver a lot better that he has in this book.
