Learning to Listen to your Self and BodyJanuary 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I discovered this book during a very dark time in my life. Reading through it, I began to see aspects of my psyche and why they related to the physical symptoms I experienced.
If you're on the healing path, this book will lead you in the right direction, providing guidance, offering hope. I don't believe in drugs or chemical cures. This book is about finding balance for all the days of your life, being aware of the wholeness of your being. I have noticed that when one chakra suffers, all of them are in some way effected. Read this book with the works of Caroline Myss and your understanding of health will not only widen but deepen.
Ideally, if you are looking for a way to take control of your health and healing, this book will offer you not so much solutions (i.e. a How-to-of Health) but a greater awareness of your life path. A great deal of healing is believing in yourself and going from there.
Must ReadNovember 29, 2007 I had no idea the chakras could be explained in such a pragmatic manner, using terms a Western mind can understand. This book links what we've already heard and are familiar with regarding psychological development with what might not be so familiar.
Great for self-diagnosisNovember 7, 2007 This book is one of the first to so lucidly bridge the gap between two very different traditions. The philosophical foundations behind Western psychology and Eastern energy medicine are so different that overlaying the two and finding the relevance is brilliant. Each chakra chapter has a two-page "at a glance" reference system - great for assessing very quickly if you want to read the chapter or not. This book is structured in a way that, after reading the introduction, you can pick-up anywhere that speaks to you. I gave this four stars, not five, simply because there are a few things I don't completely agree with that really wont make a difference to the layperson. Having said that, this is a very good book.
Eastern Body Western Mind by Anodea JudithOctober 31, 2007 Author Anodea Judith has created a true "how-to" book on the chakras. The entire Eastern chakra philosophy of the body is given a new, fresh, and practical application, using Western psychology as means of explaining it all. This should be considered "the" textbook for anyone interested in true energy healing of the body, mind, and planet.
Awesome book!!!August 17, 2007 This is really helpful and gives you a load of information regarding the energy (chakras) in the body. Great for a bodyworker trained in eastern concepts. I will defintely reach for this book for years to come.
