4 out of 5 stars Great Beginners Book   August 14, 2008

This is a Great Beginners Book. It explains in detail how to cast a circle and what spells and rituals are best for each season.

2 out of 5 stars another book for my collection   March 30, 2008

I found this book more entertaining than helpfull. I love to read and share books of intrest with friends and family but this book is not one I would recomend to them because of fluff, some subjects of intrest are short. I have found some things to be as if "do it my way" oriented.

5 out of 5 stars You'll get out of it what you put into it!   November 12, 2007

This is the second book that I've read by Ravenwolf, the first was To Ride a Silver Broomstick. I really enjoyed both of them. I guess I can see why many Wiccans would find this too comerical, or that it's written for the wrong audience. However, there is really a lot of great information and ideas in her work. I love the sections on daily devotionals, cauldron magic, and writing your own rituals. If you've read other books by her and didn't like them, it only makes sense not to read any more of them. Also, I've noticed that many of the reviewers who totally bash her seem to have set up accounts simply to do so. I've given many (imo) deserved negitive reviews to plenty of things on Amazon. I think it's really shady that some people only review one or two authors they hate. I would be willing to bet that these reviewers have read one, or less of her books, before they decided to cut and paste their reviwes on all of them.

4 out of 5 stars Beyond a Beginner   October 24, 2007

I found this book to be a good guide for practioners that have just gotten over the beginner's phase (whatever that is) and would like a guide on furthering their spirituality. The daily devotions, for example are a great practice to use for connecting with the Goddess/God or whatever deities you love and feel a connection with. There is also a section on choosing your own patron god/goddess. There are also various activities for you to do which last from moon-to-moon on average. I enjoyed the chapter on sacred space. Also, you may find the info on setting up a shrine to be useful as well. Planetary hours, more circle casting techniques, etc are included. I have been on my path for a little while so much of the info seemed basic to me but I recommend it for those that are beyond being a beginner but not yet quite an advanced Crafter.

1 out of 5 stars Bunk again   October 13, 2007

Silver had a tendency in the beginning to write garbage. In this book she also attacks Christianity as a vial religion that will not accept your faith, and even recommends keeping your beliefs hidden from your family. (its all about personal happenstance if your family will accept your beliefs or not, no matter what faith they are)

I would not recommend this one either as all th info in this can found in far better books.
