Fine for beginnersDecember 29, 2008 For someone entirely new to Wicca who is coming into the Craft as a solitaire, this book is a fine beginning. Raymond Buckland is the man who brought Wicca to this continent, and he is a master of the Craft. Be aware that you are getting his own "take" on the Craft, which is in line with the tradition he founded. This in no way detracts from the validity or value of what he lays out--Mr. Buckland has been admirably "non-sectarian" in his presentation of the Craft. Also notable is the fact that he makes clear his view that magic is very much secondary to the Craft, which is after all a religion based upon the sacred. I concur in this, and applaud his clarifying this important matter.
Keep in mind that this book, as with any other, should be treated by you only as one resource among others; don't worry or fret if you don't have the tools suggested by Mr. Buckland. Some of us never use some of them, and in any case, what matters most is your real devotion and earnest pursuit of a religious life. Blessed Be.
A Welcomed Addition to My Personal LibraryJuly 28, 2008 I treasure Mr. Raymond Buckland's WICCA FOR ONE book, and I have found it to be such a useful guide, to all issues involving witchcraft, that I currently have forty-five bookmark tabs inserted throughout my copy of this most helpful book. Buckland skillfully navigates the reader through an expansive landscape of occult topics, but Buckland's perspective, his clarity of vision, on the genesis and nature of Wicca is a steady compass ensuring the reader is never at risk of becoming confused or lost. His justification of the solitary witch is satisfying, and the numerous tables contained in the appendices are sure useful. I salute you, Mr. Buckland!
Same ol' same 'olFebruary 16, 2008 I got this book out of the library and discovered it is just like every other book on Wicca out there only the author expects that the reader does not belong to a coven.

Buckland's clear and logical approach to this issue made things much clearer and nicely puts things into perspective.

I have about 60 wicca books but this by far is the best. Easy to understand. Easy to follow. if you are a solitary wicca practitioner...i highly recommend this book. it's very fairly priced too!
