Book Description Despite our advancements in science and medicine, death remains one of human civilization's most glorious mysteries. A handful of doctors have written books on phenomena such as near-death experiences, but research and data is scarce on pre-death experiences. Because of this lack of information, Dr. John Lerma has devoted his career to compiling anecdotal and scientific research on pre-death hallucinations from the countless terminally-ill patients he lovingly cares for as a doctor and director at The Medical Center of Houston, Texas. Now, in the groundbreaking book, Into The Light, Dr. Lerma shares his valuable research and guidance in 16 inspirational stories of children and adults confronting their deaths through the comforting visions of divine beings. By presenting these mysterious visions, synchronicities, and angelic conversations terminally ill patients encounter, Dr. Lerma shows how knowledge of death can ease the pain and fear as we prepare to enter into the light. In this book you will learn:
*The exhilarating and calming elements of pre-death experiences.
*Healing during the dying process.
*The difference between hallucinations and visions.
*Self-forgiveness and self-love as the key to a joyous life and a peaceful transition. The mystical experiences described here delve into: the creation of the universe, past and future extinctions, dark angels and white angels, selfless suffering and its effect on humanity, free will as the vital ingredient to create on earth and in heaven, and many more incredible revelations. The poignant stories in Into the Light will leave you feeling uplifted in faith, hope, and love.

If This Book Doesn't Convince You, I Don't Imagine Anything Ever Will. August 24, 2008 I've read dozens and dozens of books in my lifetime dealing with NDE and spiritual material and NOTHING has ever touched me to the depth that this book has. I've read books that have made me think...that have had me straddling the fence...that have had me "almost" convinced...and books that have left me rolling my eyes at the utter absurdity and obvious deceptive intentions for nothing more than fame and fortune. Dr. Lerma doesn't attempt to "convert you". He simply presents his own "journals" for you to observe and decide for yourself. There is no talking in circles. No reconstructing or recycling of various books past and present. It had me sobbing throughout but not with misery. Rather with hope and an instinctive spirtual understanding. I almost didn't feel like I was reading a book. Instead I felt as if I were "connected" to the patients and their families, as well as Dr. Lerma. I literally felt the energy crackle through my own soul as I read the haunting yet beautiful patient stories of inspiration and spirtual hope shared by Dr. Lerma. Hospice medical professionals are an angelic force all their own. There are few professions that equal it. Few that are more heartbreaking, but spirtually rewarding all the same. Though I've not yet dealt up close and personal with the passing of a loved one to form my own "opinion", I have experienced questionable and mysterious events in my life that convince me there is much more to this world than our mortal eyes can see. Following a health scare in late 2007 that I deem my own personal NDE because unseen yet closely "felt" spirtual beings helped guide me into turning my life around while there was still time, I felt "reborn". Some might find it "preachy", but a closed mind and a "fixed scientific approach" to looking at the world is one of man's greatest detriments. Read it with an open mind. And should you still find yourself skeptical or worse yet, smugly dismissive, then all I can say is you will find your own moment of truth eventually. If ever I find myself or my loved ones in the same position as Dr. Lerma's patients, I pray for someone as equally compassionate and loving to help "carry us through. You are a flesh and blood angel Dr. Lerma and I give thanks that I was led to discover your book.
It's what i have always believed God to be like. August 23, 2008 After all the hell fire and brimstone my church, the Catholic Church, taught me for most of my life, its nice to see that they were wrong. Gods a loving God, not a scary God.
We all have an angel or several, we're never alone here on earth and all have an excellent chance to make it to Heaven through Jesus Christ and His Father God Almighty.
It's just really a great experience reading the TRUTH for a change.

A Thoughful Read July 1, 2008 A thought-provoking book because of the qualifications of the author - a respected Hospice MD. I personally can vouch for two comments he makes in the book regarding the dying person who dreams they have "missed the train, bus" whatever; and the dying who focus on the corner of their room to the exclusion of all else. I can only pray there were truly angels in that corner supporting and communing with the patient.
Personal Agenda Comes Out June 13, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I can certainly see why this book has received such critical acclaim - it does communicate a very hopeful message about the existence of a heavenly repite beyond this life. However, for the most part, the author implies that you'd better have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior before your time comes. In other words, particularly in later sections of the text, Dr. Lerma's personal belief system appears to have "colored" his findings a particular shade of Catholicism, and thus loses the objective lens of scientific inquiry that this subject so desperately needs.
Totaly Awesome !!! June 12, 2008 Wow!!! I loved this book. I read it in 2 days. I laughed and cried . It was very helpful and touching. I had a sister that passed away in a Hospice center just last week. She was seeing and talking to Angels right up to her passing. The Doctor there recomened that I read this book, and I'm so glad that I read it. I highly recommend it to everyone.
