Product Description Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!
Belief and AmazementOctober 11, 2008 I first heard of "The Shack" from a friend at my grandson's birthday. I agreed it would be a nice book to read and promptly forgot. While looking on Amazon, for another selection, I saw "The Shack" and bought it. After reading the first page I was hooked! I'm an active Christian and over the years have had the usual difficulties understanding the Trinity, turning your life COMPLETELY over to God and many other areas. This book is remarkable in the way it overturns the usual roadblocks we humans put in front of our beliefs. Everything is heightened and made simple at the same time. It's perfect for our global world because the sterotypic images of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit aren't there.
Anyone will appreciate the heart and love for our world the author relates.
Grace upon GraceOctober 11, 2008 This book opens the hearts of all readers, whether a believer or not. It will make you step back and say, "How could God not be that way? He is so detailed in our lives." A beautiful concept, really. Bravo to the measure of faith that was written on each page of this wonderful revolution!
The ShackOctober 11, 2008 I recommend this book to everyone. This is a book that I could read more than once and get more out of it each time. I have already passed it on to 4 others that enjoyed it as well.
The Hack is a treasureOctober 11, 2008 This is a glorious story. It completely captivated me. This book comes the closest that I have ever read or heard to explaining the holy trinity.
In the story a man experiences the loss of a child and at the same time loses his faith in God. Well, God using his grace presents himself or herself in a unpredictable form. The man is put with the Holy Spirit as well as Jesus. The book changed my ideas about Jesus and God. They became so much more real...so much more attainable. I would recommend this to anyone struggling with their faith in God.

WOWOctober 11, 2008 My parents recommended the Shack to me after they were given it to read by their church sunday school class. I have since bought copies and given it to everyone in my bible study group. This book will lift you up and wring you dry at the same time. The Shack is well worth the read and you will want to pass it along like I did.
