Amazon.com Review "What if for 24 hours Jesus wakes up in your bed, walks in your shoes, lives in your house, assumes your schedule?... What if for one day Jesus lives your life with his heart?
Within these opening lines lies the premise of Max Lucado's book about the possibility of becoming "just like Jesus." In recounting the biblical stories of Jesus' life and deeds, Lucado then explains how Jesus' acts of compassion, forgiveness, honesty, and faith can be reflected in anyone's everyday life. Lucado's concrete analogy of "just like Jesus" helps many readers grasp the fundamentals of Christianity in a new and inspiring way. Furthermore, in taking on the values, heart and deeds of Jesus, Lucado believes, Christians can expect a richer, more accessible relationship with God. "Jesus had unbroken communion with his father," writes Lucado. "Do you suppose the Father desires the same for us? Absolutely ... God has the same abiding intimacy with you that he had with his son."
One of the reasons that Lucado's popularity has soared is that he combines straightforward storytelling skills with simple, unfettered theology to explain how Christianity influences modern life, from marriage and career to golf games and traffic jams. Fans will also appreciate his companion study guide at the end of the book, which offers provocative questions relating to the themes of each chapter. --Gail Hudson

Where did we get this idea that we can't change? From whence come statements such as, "It's just my nature to worry." "I'll always be pessimistic. I'm just that way." "I can't help the way I react. I have a bad temper." Such thoughts are not from God. He can no more leave a life unchanged than a mother can leave a tear untouched. His plan for you is nothing short of a new heart. If you were a car, God would want control of your engine. If you were a computer, God would claim the software and the hard drive. If you were an airplane, He'd take His seat in the cockpit. But you are a person, so God wants to change your heart. Max Lucado tells how God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you there. He wants you to have a heart like His. He wants you to be Just Like Jesus.
Great small group study!November 12, 2008 Our ladies small bible study group chose this book for our next study starting in January. After looking through the chapters on having a forgiving heart, a listening heart and worship-hungry heart and a focused heart, just to name a few, it seems to be a great study for our group. I also appreciate the study guide in the back of the book with questions to ponder on each chapter. The study guide focuses questions on 'Finding the Heart of Jesus', 'Probing the Mind of Jesus' and 'Becoming the Hands of Jesus' for each chapter which makes for excellent discussions among the group or if you're an individual reader. I would recommend this book very highly.

Better every time I read it.January 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned this book for years, and have many others of Lucado's books. I've taken this from my shelf and read it numerous times and each time it gets better. I know -- the book can't actually get better, since it doesn't change. But I am changed each time I read it. I love his analogies and stories and other ways of illustrating his points. I find no fault at all with his theology. I would recommend this and his other books to anyone and everyone.
