Customer Reviews: The Marvelous Mind of BaumApril 29, 2008 Ryan D. Peterson(Orem, UT USA) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful book that combines all of the very imaginative OZ books into one volume. Every child should either read or be read these stories as they grow up.
My only complaint with this volume is that it doesn't have any illustrations. I would very much have liked to see a volume like this but with all of the original illustrations. They are so fanciful and lovely that it is a shame to find them missing here. But, to be honest, if they couldn't put the original illustrations, I would prefer no illustrations at all, so this is probably the second best setup. I've seen some publications with newer illustrations, and I haven't seen any that capture the charm of the books nearly so well.
However, even with the lack of illustrations, I still give this volume five stars because it is the stories that are the true stars here and a child's mind can work wonders with the imagery that is described in Baum's prose, even without the aid of illustrations.

I purchased this book for my husband who is a Wizard of Oz fan. It is a wonderful collection of Frank Baum Oz stories in one book. The stories are so imaginative and fun to read. The only thing missing are the pictures that assist the imagination. I purchased the soft cover which is a great value. Highly recommended for Oz fans.
Good if you don't want to hunt down every titleSeptember 26, 2009 Mr White 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Wizard of Oz has always been one of my favorite movies, and I wanted to fianlly read the book version. I was thrilled when I found this 15-in-1 collection.
As others have said, it does not include the origianl illistrations, which is a shame. Also, I am not sure what marketing executive decided that magenta lettering on a cyan background would be a good idea. It works for the title, but trying to read the back is a nightmare.
Also, the book full of typos. In Ozma of Oz, I believe, the letter "p" was randomly capitolized at the begininng of some words. In a later story whole paragraphs are missing. It was very annoying.
If you can get around those problems, then this is the colletion for you.

It's great to find all the stories in one volume. There are major type-o's in some of the stories e.g. whole chapters missing, chapters out of order, missing text. The book is affordable but missing all of Neill's wonderful illustrations.
