Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Annie Wilder suspected the funky 100-year-old house was haunted when she saw it for the first time. But nothing could have prepared her for the mischievous and downright scary antics that take place once she, her two children, and her cats move into the rundown Victorian home. Disembodied conversation, pounding walls, glowing orbs, and mysterious whispers soon escalate into full-fledged ghostly visits-provoking sheer terror that, over time, transforms into curiosity. Determined to make peace with her spirit guests, she invites renowned clairvoyant Echo Bodine over and learns fascinating details about each of the entities residing there.

Wilder's gripping tale provides a compelling glimpse into the otherworldly nature of the lonely spirits, protective forces, phantom pets, and departed loved ones that occupy her remarkable home.

Annie Wilder (Minnesota) is a mother and writer. She continues to bravely live in her spooky old house with three cats and numerous ghosts. This is her first book.

5 out of 5 stars I was so drawin in by this book that I read it in one sitting, which I never do.   August 1, 2008
I love books that are about true hauntings, especially the kind where the whole book is about one particular house (as opposed to a book chock full of short stories about historical places where all the stories consist of phrases like "some say that this place is haunted by blah blah blah...). No, this book is more up my alley; one book dedicated to one house's haunting. Lots of detailed experiences and I even laughed a few times. I'm a slow-reader but I finished this in one night. I was pulled in so deeply that I was even reading faster than my normal speed. I was especially interested in some of the authors' non-ghost paranormal experiences (such as seeing grids, geometric shapes, etc.). I once saw a grid like she describes. I just thought I was losing my mind. Now I wonder if there's more to it than that. Anyway, I loved this book and from the book I got a short list of other books I'd like to check out as well.

2 out of 5 stars Bland as white rice   January 20, 2008

I heard the author on a podcast and immediately bought the book. Mistake. It's so boring it just about put me to sleep. There were two fatal flaws.

First, there was no suspense, no creepiness, no fear. La la la, a ghost tried to get in my bed, la la la, whispers from the radiators, la la la, pounding in the walls. Ho hum. The second major problem was that we know so little about the house's inhabitants. Everyone besides the author is a mere prop, a cardboard cutout. It's hard to care about what happens when there's no one to care about it happening to.

All in all, it's a poorly done treatment of what could have been a fascinating story.

3 out of 5 stars Not a bad story, but....   December 26, 2007

The story isn't bad, but I thought the author came across as somewhat "flaky", thus making the story less believable.

2 out of 5 stars Yikes! (Not in a Good Way)   November 22, 2007

I couldn't get through this one. I am fascinated by the subject matter, but the author's presentation was weak and sadly unbelievable. I much preferred Elaine Mercado's "Grave's End."

5 out of 5 stars Great book   October 25, 2007

I really enjoyed this book. While none of us have ever seen a full body apparition, my family and I have experienced similar things. After I read it, I bought a copy and had it sent to my grown daughter. It feels pretty good to know that we aren't the only ones.
