Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
What unknown hands carved these mysterious skulls perhaps over 12,000 years ago? Do they really have the power of life and death? In 1927, while searching for the lost civilization of Atlantis, archeologists discovered in the ruins of a Mayan city a perfect replica of a human skull, exquisitely carved and polished from a single piece of quartz crystal. It is clearly the product of a sophisticated civilization—yet its age has been estimated at 12,000 years! A number of life-size crystal skulls are known to exist. Where did they come from? Observers have reported strange sounds, odors, and light effects emanating from crystal skulls. Crystal skulls are said to have caused violence, physical injury, and even death. Can it be that these uncanny objects are our link to mankind’s dark, magical past? Are they messengers from another age—or another world? A fascinating compendium of current information on crystal skulls by two authors with first hand knowledge.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best on the Subject   October 12, 2008

David Hatcher Childress and Stephen Mehler have put together one of the best books on the market about Crystal Skulls that pack a one-two punch.

Childress starts it all off with insight into the technology that exist and is being developed based on and using crystals. He then takes the reader back in time to the Mayans, Aztecs, Zapotecs and other Mesoamerican cultures to where these mysterious skulls seemed to have been an important part of the beliefs and quite possible their ceremonies and rituals. He even raises and looks at the question: Did Mexican Emporerors' have a secret collection of Crystal Skulls? Some even say that this is where the Mitchell-Hedges Skull come from. Childress finishes his section our with a close look at the controversial Mitchell-Hedges Skull and some of the theories as to how it was obtained.

The second half of the book, which is authored by Stephen Mehler, is where the reader is introduced to some of the famous skulls and the stories behind them. Mehler also does a great job on highlighting the life of Nick Nocerino, who was considered the foremost expert in the research of Crystal Skulls. This leads into the section of the book that looks at the research of the Crystal Skulls and information gathered from that research. Mehler discusses some of the testing that was done on various skulls as well as some of his own experiences.

This was a great collaboration between two authors and a recommended read for anyone interested in Crystal Skulls. You will learn a lot from this book as well as read about some important people in Crystal Skull research coupled with some amazing stories. Packed with tons of pictures and sketches helping visualize what is being talked about only adds to an already well put together book.

5 out of 5 stars MUST READ Book for Skullkeepers and the Curious   June 26, 2008

I've been privileged to hear both David Hatcher Childress and Stephen Mehler speak on a variety of topics at conferences over the last several years, so I was particularly excited to learn about the publication of this book. Both authors are passionate about what they do, and it shows in their writing as clearly as it shows when they speak.

I have collected and worked with crystal and stone skulls since 2001, and have read every book I could get my hands on about this topic. I am so pleased to recommend THE CRYSTAL SKULLS: ASTONISHING PORTALS TO MAN'S PAST as a definitive MUST READ for anyone who works with or is curious about crystal skulls.

I found the book to be a stimulating, insightful read, connecting me to aspects of the crystal skulls I had not yet discovered. The photographs are spectacular! I especially enjoy reading the first-hand accounts that give this book a personal touch.

There is something in this book for everyone -- the skullkeepers and the curious, people who have worked with crystals and gemstones but not yet experienced skull energy, or even those Indiana Jones fans who will see that Spielberg, Koepe and Lucas really DID do their homework!

5 out of 5 stars Best Book on Crystal Skulls!   June 23, 2008

This is the best book on crystal skulls yet! The pictures alone are worth the price of the book, but there's so much more. David Hatcher Childress begins with an excellent review of the Maya and Olmec civilizations, then the stories surrounding famous skulls. Stephen Mehler follows with his own original research on several ancient skulls, one that might not be so ancient, and his own life-changing experience with Max. He tells the story of Nick Nocerino, the foremost crystal skull researcher.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Book Ever on Crystal Skulls   June 14, 2008

I have collected almost every book on Crystal Skulls and this is by far the best and most complete. It is loaded with beautiful color photos that are breath taking. It is by far my favorite Crystal Skull book and it is one I want to read again and again. The chapter on F.R. "Nick" Nocerino is worth the price of the book and more.

Don't miss out an incredible adventure.
