Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
After literally stumbling into orbs appearing as bright as light bulbs in photographs he was taking at a spiritual retreat, Dr. Klaus Heinemann immediately sensed that he was onto something profound. There was no choice but to convince himself that his notion was on solid grounds. Heinemann looked at thousands of pictures he had taken earlier, and thousands more would be taken to test the hypothesis that these light circles are nothing less than emanations from Spirit beings.

Dr. Miceal Ledwith had a similar experience after the orb phenomenon was first made known to him through the teachings of Ramtha. He began an intense and systematic study of orbs in all sort of situations, day and night, and in all sorts of atmospheric conditions, in order to discover all he could about their nature, the situations in which their presence could be most easily detected, and what implications they might have for our understanding of our own place in the cosmos. To date, he has amassed a collection of well over 100,000 images.

In The Orb Project, Ledwith and Heinemann present their fascinating discoveries, along with practical tips that amateur digital photographers can use to photograph orbs and properly distinguish them from "false" orbs that are really dust or water particles. They offer guidelines on deciphering the orbs' various patterns, features, and characteristics, based on their extensive research.

As Dr. Ledwith points out, once you develop a keen and sustained interest in photographing spirit entities, some quite interesting things begin to happen: the brain stops censoring these images, and you can begin to see with orbs with the naked eye -- in more color and detail than is visible to even a digital camera.

Ledwith and Heinemann also explore communication with orbs and what their existence means to our lives. The implications of a realization that we are "surrounded by a cloud of witnesses" are enormous and incredibly hopeful for the world at large.

2 out of 5 stars This Is Not Evidence   September 7, 2008
I was so disappointed in this book, I had to put it down just short of halfway through. Contained herein lies pure and unabashed speculation on what orbs are and how to photograph them. Some people will find this interesting, but there are blaring, gaping holes that are conveniently left open and never addressed.

Firstly, the book is written by two absolute believers. This is not wrong, in and of itself, but there is the presentation of objectivity where, none really exists. The only presentation of dissent to what the first author believes is what he believes he can refute. Otherwise, other contradictory theories as to what orbs are not are ignored. There is mention of why Heinemann believes digital cameras are superior to film cameras for capturing orbs, and it does make sense. However, there is no addressing the problem that digital cameras truly present in terms of biased software engineering in addition the ability to alter EXIF data, which makes authenticating digital files extremely difficult.

The biggest problem, for me, arose when reading the chapter on how to recognize "fake" orbs in comparison to "real" orbs. Four categories are presented, each of which highlight prevailing theories as to what many paranormal researchers will use to discount the appearance of orbs in photographs. However, there is absolutely no explicit method given to differentiate "real" from "fake" orbs, so the reader is left to puzzle this out from earlier chapters by inference. There is never any concise list of characteristics to look for to either verify or discount the assertion of what is "real" and what is "fake" when it comes to pictures of orbs.

If you believe that orbs do exist and are manifestations of otherworldly beings, you'll enjoy this book, as you'll likely feel vindicated in your beliefs. If you're looking for objective methodology to prove whether an orb is real or not, or if you're looking for something to convince you the orbs are something more than dust, pollen, moisture, or bugs, you'll likely be as disappointed in this book as I am.

5 out of 5 stars Fascinating   June 5, 2008

I found this book utterly fascinating. I have my own collection of orb photos, and it was wonderful to read validation of their existence. I loved reading the two differing points of view about the orbs and hope that others will appreciate this phenomenon as well.

2 out of 5 stars Not sure about this topic   May 17, 2008
I had read articles about orbs and thought this book would be more objective in its approach and it really wasn't. While it's possible multi-dimensional entities appear as orbs I think these photographers are creating orbs in some way. They're NOT frauds. I believe these people are sincere. I just think that somehow --- maybe in their auras -- they're producing energy that manifests as orbs. Of course, if you think the 3D world is it, you won't like this book. Serious multi-dimensional investigators, however, might be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Great Book on Orbs   March 27, 2008

I really enjoyed this book. It is the only book to date that has given some sort of scientific and spiritual explanation about orb photo's. I have been taking orb photo's since 2001 when I got my first digital camera. I think that there is much more to the story of orb's that we have only begun to figure them out. Thanks for writing a such a controversal book. I for beleive they are spiritual in nature. I will keep taking photo's of orbs as a amatuer photographer.

5 out of 5 stars Enlightening   March 5, 2008

For several years, I have viewed orbs as evidence of the paranormal, ghosts, in a simpler word. I am now starting to rethink this perspective. After reading this book, which I was given to by a friend who has dealt with the paranormal for almost all of her life, I can honestly say that there's much more to this phenomenon that I realized.

First off, I no longer feel that orbs are evidence of deceased individuals. The may be beings living in an entirely different dimension, and through the technology embedded in our digital cameras we are able to see this energy crossing over.

The book itself was very well written, included a multitude of evidence comparing both genuine and artificial orb photographs, and approached the topic from two very different sides. The first part of the book explores the evidence itself, focusing on the technology and possible ways in which we're experiencing/documenting the phenomenon. The second half of the book, approaches the subject from a much more spiritual approach, seeking mankind's enlightenment.

I highly recommend this book, it gave my research plenty of new directions to explore.
