Book Description We all want to know what happens when we die--but according to Cyndi Dale, we don't have to wait to find out. With Illuminating the Afterlife, this internationally renowned energy healer and author presents a compelling investigation of the soul's journey, from before we were born, through our lifetimes, and into the "Planes of Light" that await after we die. Drawing on her broad understanding of thanatology (the study of death from medical, psychological, and spiritual perspectives) as well as her own extraordinary experiences as a healer and psychic, Dale offers insights and practices for readying ourselves for "the adventure we call death," including: * Why your soul came into this life, and what it is seeking * Wisdom about death from the great world traditions, including the Egyptian and Tibetan books of the dead * The 13 Planes of Light that mark each step in the soul's evolution--and how to determine your own soul's progression * Understanding entities such as angels, spirit guides, ghosts, and demons, and how they affect you * What happens to the soul in cases such as sudden death, suicide, or abortion. With her groundbreaking books about chakra healing and her highly acclaimed seminars around the world, Cyndi Dale stands out as an emerging teacher with a dynamic, original voice. Now she teaches audiences how we can rise above our fear of death and prepare for the "soul's voyage from darkness into light" with Illuminating the Afterlife.
Something OffAugust 18, 2008 I have been into the study of the afterlife and the nature of the universe for quite some time and I have come across some amazing texts. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. I have to agree with the other reviewer that said that something felt off about this book. I began reading it with an open-mind but there were many inaccuracies. She speaks so much about 12/13 Planes of Light but honestly, there are 8 densities/planes in our sphere of existence. Those who have been studying for a while will have, by now, picked up a sense of discernment, being able to tell what is true and what is false. This book is well-intentioned but is by no means an accurate depiction of things. I'll be returning this book to the store. It may be okay for those looking for an inspirational message or for a beginner, but for the seasoned student it will be apparent that this book is just a little too off.
Illuminating the AfterlifeJuly 20, 2008 Having worked with Hospice Patients as a visiting nurse, I was excited and impressed to have a new way of looking at the afterlife for so many wonderful patients. This book is a great comfort for Christians and people of many faiths. In the 70's Elizabeth Kubler-Ross wrote the ground breaking book "On Death and Dying" that is still standard reading in college courses. The book "Illuminating the Afterlife" is the new ground breaking book of our time that will be in college courses for years to come to enlighten us for both our journey in living and after.
the art of a spiritual challengeJuly 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I work professionally in the hospice field and am happy to read a book that has some real depth, research, and insight. I was shocked to read the negative diatribe of another reviewer and felt that I wanted to respond. The points made did not relate to the book and were out of context, even to saying that Edgar Cayce did not die young - my understanding is that although he lived into his 60's, he was tired and sick from helping so many people. And good for the author, to challenge us spiritually. Maybe it IS spiritual manipulation, to be grateful for want we want before we get it. Maybe we need to start by being grateful for what we have and concentrate on what we have to give, not just get. I think the death and dying field needs someone pushing at our boundaries and I'm glad that this author is doing it.
wonderful and wiseJuly 16, 2008 I loved Illuminating the Afterlife, especially the emphasis on how to apply the information from the beyond to my current life. I found it beautifully written and well written. I've told my friends about the book and they also found it elucidating, warm, and exciting. I was rather surprised to read a negative review and found it really off-mark. I happen to agree that its more important to be grateful for what we have than to tell God we're grateful for what He/She still has to give us. This book is unlike any others on Near Death, in that it shows us how to live and I will continue to recommend it to everyone.
Amazing ReadJuly 16, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
After reading Cyndi's latest book, I continue to become more illuminated and enlightened. Her ability to take complex subjects and present them in a straightforward manner allows me to draw conclusions and make sense of various issues and fears i've been struggling with. Her references and personal experiences are consistent with other alternative healing and energy practitioners that I've encountered and provides an honest and thought provoking perspective encapsulated in love and guidance.
