Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Bhagavad Gita is India's most sacred textthe Hindu "Bible." Yogananda's translation and commentary brings a unique and deeply penetrating insight into this great scripture, which is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive books available on the science and philosophy of Yoga. God Talks With Arjuna explains the Bhagavad Gita's profoundest spiritual, psychological, and metaphysical truths, long obscured by metaphor and allegory. Yogananda takes Lord Krishna's counsel to the warrior Arjuna and applies it to our everyday struggles with the human ego. Our greatest battle he explains, like Arjuna's, takes place within our own minds as we fight our doubts, fears, negative habits, self-defeating thoughts, and erroneous thinking. Appealing to scholar and general reader alike, there is no other Gita on the market as attractive, and comprehensive.
Yogananda said, "From the moment of conception to the surrender of the last breath, man has to fight in each incarnation innumerable battlesbiological, hereditary, bacteriological, physiological, climatic, social, ethical, political, sociological, psychological, metaphysicalso many varieties of inner and outer conflicts. Competing for victory in every encounter are the forces of good and evil. The whole intent of the Gita is to align man's efforts on the side of dharma, or righteousness. The ultimate aim is Self-realization, the realization of man's true Self, the soul, as made in the image of God, one with the ever-existing, ever-conscious, ever-new bliss of Spirit."

20 original color paintings

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Treatise on Yoga   September 22, 2008
I have been reading this book since last 11 years and I do not know as to how many times I have gone through it, but each time it gives me new insights and as if it is an ocean and the more deeper you delve in it you will get more and more. Unfortunately people only keep it in Pooja and do not read it.This copy I purchased recently to gift it to someone who has interest in Yoga and meditation and is worthy og reading it.

5 out of 5 stars God Talks with Arjuna   June 5, 2008
Yes, it'a another copy of the Bhagavad Gita, but this one is very special. The rich blue hard back binding is only the beginning. The Words are timeless and the commentary by Yogananada worth every cent.

5 out of 5 stars every page has a "Eureka" moment   April 13, 2008

i havent yet finisheed the volumes, however from what i have read, i am thoroughly convinced about the spirituality of the Bhagavad Gita as well as Sri Yogananda directly receiving this inspired commentary from the universe itself. This writing harmonifies Vedantic teachings with the teachings of Christ. In this era of religious flux and intolerance what is needed is the calming words of inspired and wise masters like Sri Yogananda to show us all that we have strive to see the unity in us all rather that the differences. Deeply moving and filled with wisdom Sri Yoganandas words will move people to discovering a wholistic view of life and answers the questions we all have about life and existence.
Every page in this book reveals a little bit about the reader and sets him/her on a path of realisation and discovery like no other.Let the world know that the great masters of the world who lived and still live among us need to be given a chance to awaken the Krishna and Christ in each of us. The world will then truly be a better place for all. Read this commentary, understand it and hold on to the wisdom in it for it will serve you for all eternity.

How can I review a book which I am using to review myself or learn to get better? I am not the right person to comment on it.

An excellent book and I try my best to read atleast one page or a verse a day.

5 out of 5 stars A Priceless Masterpiece   October 16, 2007

There are other translations and other commentaries on the Bhagavad Gita, but this is by far the best I've seen. The author explains the deep allegory that the book represents. The story takes place on a battlefield, but the battle is one that everyone must fight. There is a constant struggle inside of us all between the spiritual and the material, between the eternal and the transient, between good and evil. Paramahansa Yogananda provides excellent insights into this fight, and inspires the reader to fight harder and with more determination. I strongly recommend this book to all spiritual seekers.
