Product Description In his previous book The Origins of Christmas, Joseph F. Kelly answers common questions about the development of Christmas rituals and legends, and explores the history of the holiday. In this book Kelly turns to the infancy narratives to see what the New Testament tells us about the Nativity. Readers will likely discover that their Christmas celebrations, cards, pageants, and creches are often combinations and embellishments of the gospel narratives. Yet each of these narratives is quite distinct, reflecting the author's talents and audience. In this practical book readers will be shown many remarkable aspects of the story of our savior's birth.
Customer Reviews:
Nothing newSeptember 25, 2008 I read this at 1 quick sitting and was disappointed. I wanted to give it 1 star but, well, Christmas and all. There was nothing New in the book. I suggest "Firstborn of God: The Birth of Mary's Son Jesus", Luke 2:1-21 (Paperback)it is new, goes back into the greek relatively easy to read and viewing the Nativity passages in and through the eyes of the eucharist was spiritually enriching for me.
