Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
The Sermon on the Mount--now passing its 65th birthday--remains a vital and provocative introduction to the ideas at the heart of Christian Science. At heart it means to be entirely practical, as the "Science" of the name would indicate. Denying any interest in theology (there is no theology in the Bible, Fox argues), the author instead suggests that what Jesus was after was results: "Jesus explains to us what the nature of God is, and what our own nature is; tells us the meaning of life and of death; shows us why we make mistakes; why we yield to temptation; why we become sick, and impoverished, and old; and, most important of all, he tells us how all these evils may be overcome, and how we may bring health, happiness, and true prosperity into our lives."

And the Spiritual Key? Fox puts it quite simply: "The Truth turns out to be nothing less than the amazing but undeniable fact that the whole outer world--whether it be the physical body, the common things of life, the winds and the rain, the clouds, the earth itself--is amenable to man's thought, and that he has dominion over it when he knows it." --Doug Thorpe

5 out of 5 stars Sermon on the Mount: The Key to Success in Life   January 7, 2009
This book can be a life changing experience if you will open your mind and heart as you read it. For many who cannot accept the traditional Christian beliefs about God and Jesus, this can give them a whole new view.

5 out of 5 stars The Sermon on the Mount: The Key to Success in Life (1934)   January 6, 2009
Any book by Dr. Emmet Fox is a jewel to behold. And THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT is no exception. Aside from explaining Jesus' most famous talk to his disciples and others who had gathered to hear what he had to say, Fox delves deeply into the universal power, metaphysically speaking, that is available to anyone at any time. Jesus's words release that power into your life; ideas begin to flow into your being and transform your life into health, prosperity, and inspiration. In Fox's own words, "Today the knowledge of this other and supreme force (God) is being given to the people, and before very long, I believe, many of the limitations and difficulties that people take for granted will be things of the past." Fox invites you to use his book for self-renewal and transformation. Are you up to the challenge?

This book was written long ago, but is absolutely timeless. Very much needed in today's world. I highly recommend this.

A must read that clarifies the truth that has been twisted and distorted by organized relegion.

5 out of 5 stars The only spiritual book you'll ever need.   July 10, 2008

Emmet Fox once paid Florence Scoville Schinn (see "The Game of Life and How to Play It") a great compliment by writing that her works were accessible even to those who did not wish to devote their attention to deeper study. I believe that's true also of "The Sermon on the Mount."

For Christians seeking deeper faith and understanding without committing years to reading the Bible, attending weekly church services, or joining a Bible study group, try this book. Since I was little, I've felt strongly that Jesus is my link to joy and knowing. I've been drawn to the Book of Matthew as the story of Jesus that most resonates with me, and to the Sermon on the Mount as the essence of the teachings of Jesus.

Fox's treatment of the Sermon on the Mount, section by section, provides the key to understanding the entire Bible. It's easy to read and, more importantly, every paragraph and every sentence stands alone as a complete message about what's facing me today.

For those of a metaphysical bent, you can hardly find a more complete, more accurate, simpler statement of truth. My dowsing rates this book higher on the Hawkins scale than any book I've ever encountered.

For those emersed in "A Course in Miracles," Fox has written the pocket version - easy to carry and study - and the perfect introduction to those with whom we'd like to share The Course.

For those working the twelve steps, know that Fox's writings inspired Bill Wilson. Read "The Sermon on the Mount" as a loving companion to the Big Book.

You can read other books by Fox if you'd like, or other great works by other inspired spiritual writers, but you only NEED this one.
